When the owners of this Carmel residence learned the cost of demolition and replacement with a new structure, they explored the possibilities of remodeling, to create a functional floor plan and graceful living spaces at a realistic cost.

Congleton Architect created a new entry hall with a curving stone wall, to define the visual journey from the street to the interior. A new kitchen/dining addition and separate master bedroom wing are oriented to the garden setting, creating both interior and exterior living spaces private from the street. The use of extensive Carmel stone provides an organic extension of the site into the house.
