Big Sur Lodge Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park

The Big Sur Lodge, designed by Robert Jones, was constructed in 1949 in Pfeiffer-Big Sur State Park. The two-story stone and wood building replaced and earlier lodge and cabins on the banks of the Big Sur River.

In 2003, Congleton Architect was commissioned to design accessibility

elements and restoration of the Lodge interior. The original lounge with its stone fire place and full-height copper hood was restored. The coffee shop was renovated as a coffee house and ice cream parlor, and the gift shop was relocated to its original location as part of the general store. Congleton also designed ADA accessibility elements for the guest cabins and conference center at the park.
